ACUMC "Step Into Health" Walking Club

Remember, this ACUMC program is open to anyone that wishes to "Step into Health" by walking. We usually walk at 6 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

From November 22nd until Spring, we meet at ACUMC in Long Hall at 6 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. During our summer months we'll meet at Waynedale High School's track. See Q&A section at bottom of this page.

If you are interested in joining our walking group, just call or email our church office, the more walkers, the merrier. Our phone and email addresses are at the top of this page.

This chart below will show the number of steps that each person walked, their total walking time, and if they lost, gained, or remained at the same weight.

Here's a quote from one of our walkers. "Being a part of this group provides wonderful fellowship and the encouragement that we can give each other is great. It's fun to watch and encourage the people that join us. So the number of laps I walked is nothing compared to what I take away from this group."

Many of our walkers don't send me their STATS, This is OK, the companionship and the exercise is the main purpose of this Activity.  Just come, join us, at 6 pm on Mon, Wed, or Friday.  Walk with us, you'll feel better and it doesn't cost a cent!

Ronnie started walking here in April 2011. We're always glad to have new walkers join us. Come on out, spend a little time walking with friends, you'll feel better.

NA = Stats not available at this time.

We've decided to walk at our ACUMChurch in Long Hall during inclement weather this Winter. The temperature in Long Hall is cool but comfortable, there's NO wind, ice or snow, conversation is easy and plentiful. Parking is paved, level, and plowed regularly.

Our summer walks are done outside on the 1/4 mile rubberized track at Waynedale HS.

Connie and Amanda want to get this project started, so get healthy and let us know if you want to walk with us.  We'll start it this Fall so that we can "get serious" in the Spring of 2011.

Join us, in our walks for health, be a winner!

Questions and Answers . . .

Q: Where will we meet during the cold Ohio winter months?
A: Meet at our church in Long Hall, 6 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. During the summer months, we'll meet at Waynedale's outside rubberized track, same time.

Q: Does Waynedale have a rubberized outside track?
A: Yes, it is rubberized, very comfortable for walking.

Q: Are these walks done on Waynedale's rubberized outside track?
A: Yes, however, if they have a home Football game, the plan is to walk at the former Apple Creek Development Center.

Q: Are restrooms available near the track for walkers to use?
A: Rest rooms are available when we meet at the ACUMChurch. At Waynedale we've used the restroom in the high school. It was by chance that it was open. We may be able to speak to the school to see if we could have access to the locker rooms.

Q: Are there any fees involved with this Walking Club?
A: No fees at this time.   However pedometers (a device that counts the steps a person takes) are available for purchase from our group at $10 and up.  Pedometers can be a motivation tool  for people wanting to increase their physical activity but are NOT a requirement to walk with our group.

Q: What days of the week will be available for walking?
A: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

Q: Is ANYONE welcome to walk with us?
A: Yes, the more the merrier

Q: Do the walkers meet at our church or somewhere else?  Time?
A: Right now, we're meeting in Long Hall at our Church, 6:00 pm due to our Ohio winter weather. Once Spring rolls around, we'll meet back at Waynedale's rubberized track, 6 pm.
